Okay. This is going to be a brief vent before I continue photo editing. Honestly, I have no IDEA whether or not me saying it will change anything. But if I can wake one person up, or get the word spread further out there, then GOOD.
My next post is going to be how f'ing incredible AnimeUSA was. I cannot even begin to describe it. I had more fun there than at Otakon. But, despite the massive amounts of amazing, I noticed one very disturbing trend. There are fucking weirdos and creeps that don't fucking listen to cosplayers. Allow me to further explain as that is kind of an open-ended statement that I will most likely amend once I think of better wording.
Multiple times, throughout the weekend, I was either participating in photoshoots/opportunities, taking some shots myself, or being a bag carrier. And at multiple times, there were fucking weirdos that would come up and bother/harass the cosplayer/s. From insisting on poses that the cosplayer clearly stated they were uncomfortable with, to urging cosplayer/s to take photos when they had repeatedly said no. And yet these creeps kept asking and insisting, or worse, ignoring outright. Be it wanting to take a photo of a particular pose, or wanting said cosplayer to take a photo with them.
I know that there is the whole socially awkward stereotype when it comes to Otaku and going to conventions ("It's the only time they ever get out of the house..."). And that there are creepers at every con. But seriously, I don't think I've EVER been witness to as many incidents of this as I have this weekend. And it's downright infuriating to see. I know there are attractive female cosplayers (and males, so as not to discriminate). But NOTHING gives anyone an excuse to harass or make them feel uncomfortable. Nor should any of their friends have to step in because they're being ignored. If they say no or stop or ANYTHING about being uncomfortable. That should be it. THIS SHOULD BE FUCKING COMMON SENSE.
Apparently, it's not.
SO, thoughts and comments are encouraged and welcomed, but more importantly, SPREAD THE DAMN WORD. If you have friends who have not been to cons/are thinking about going, remind them about etiquette and NOT being a jackass.
Thanks.
I'm excited to write up my fun, lighter-hearted AUSA in review, but I felt this was majorly important to get out there. So thank you for reading.
Author's Note: due to popular demand, this journal has been reposted on my Tumbr so it can be re-posted, link is: mindfall.tumblr.com/post/13133…
As always, until next time:

Updates (Are Not) Incoming
(January 4th, 2020 Update:)
Went Eva with the title because it felt appropriate.
Every time nostalgia calls and I go to update this site, I end up not.
I miss what this site was for me once upon a time. It was a hub that connected to me to many fellow cosplayers and photographers. Now, it is decide-ly not that. So many awkward, inappropriate, or demoralizing instances have long since drained my need for this particular platform. I won't be cutting down anything further, but I also will be leaving this page as it is. For now.
So, instead, if you want to see my work these days, I'm leaving links below where you can come find me.

Hey everyone,
So, I've definitely been thinking long and hard on this, and it's time. DeviantArt is an amazing website. Or, at least, in this photographer's opinion, used to be. I still think it absolutely has its uses, and I've met some incredible friends through this website. But, over the past two years, I've noticed a steady decline in the number of people that I've met and connections I've made. Or rise in the number of friends who've left the site altogether. This pretty much directly coincides with the rise of other websites (sad but true), as well as an influx of disgusting, inappropriate, and/or weird comments being left pretty much
Answers and Features!!!
So, my last journal was yet another Ask a Question/Receive a Feature! I really enjoy these, and seven people took the time to ask me some really great questions! I'll be linking to them, putting up their questions, my answers, and some featured work!!!
Without further ado:

Answer: Oooof, that is a tough question. I have so many ideas that I want to do, I can narrow it down to a top three? I hope that's okay! 1. A back alley shoot with a Jill Valentine cosplayer (Resident Evil 3), and some zombie extras! Blood everywhere! Epic shots! Survival horror! 2. I would really
Let's talk about protection/protecting one's self.
Hey everyone,
So, I've been scratching my head for a couple of days now, trying to figure out what my latest DA journal was going to be about. I definitely wanted to do a new one as my last is from June 30th! My last poll showed far and away that y'all wanted me to talk about Cosplay/Cosplay Photography. Problem is, I was not quite sure what to talk about. Luckily, my roommate (@ realevilgenius on Twitter) gave me the basis for the idea I've now come up with. I've done a few journals now covering differing areas of the "Cosplay/Cosplay Photography" topic (I'll link them below):
And, most relevantly:

I once had a guy constantly asking for a free hug. Do they not understand the word "no"? Ugh.
